Today is Monday. Mondays are the beginning of a new week, which is usually marked by dread. The dread of having to go to school for another five days, the dread of messing up in more rehearsals for the musical, the dread of quizzes and tests and homework. There's also hope for the coming week, and anticipation of something fun. Fridays are usually the most anticipated day, because it's the end of the week and because I get to work with the leads for the musical on Fridays, which is always a treat.
Today was pretty good, as far as Mondays go. I was surprisingly awake for most of the day. Really, I was. I have no clue where all those yawns came from.
In my first block, U.S. History was OK, despite the lack of a friend who I had looked forward to discussing the latest episode of Doctor Who with. (The latest episode was awesome, by the way. Go watch it.) For me, it was filled with anticipation, because we recently recited speeches that we wrote on various issues of the Progressive Era. These speeches were not only graded, they were scored by our classmates. The top five people get a prize. I hold fast to the belief that I will be in the top five, as well as a certainty that I will not. I still don't know; we will find out tomorrow. Or so our teacher says...
Advanced Pottery, next block, was pretty uneventful. I put some pieces I've finished constructing on the shelf to be fired, and I finished up a few pieces that are left over from last year. Ho hum.
My third block, AP Spanish, was the highlight of my day, hands down. We talked about the subjunctive tense in the library, as well as assorted other things such as jobs, what our parents allow us to watch, and what are our favorite bands. Then we all ate lunch together in the cafeteria (all six of us) and spoke in Spanish. Two of my friends stole my chocolate chips.
Lastly, the block where the dread comes in full force: Honors Functions. I don't know what possessed me to sign up for an honors math class; I think I made a mistake. We still haven't had our first test. It was going to be on Friday, then it was supposed to be today, and now it's scheduled for Thursday. Yippee. I hope this isn't the first test that I will fail. I'd hate to lose my sixth-in-class ranking.
Then I got to go home! Usually there's drama after school, but today I have free. So I went home and spent a LOT of time on www.thinkgeek.com, the awesomest webstore on the whole internet.
...and now I'm procrastinating about doing my math homework. I've decided to try to post on my blog more, even if I have nothing really to say, to try to get ready for NaNoWriMo. I've never finished it, and I really want to. So all you readers (yes, all two of you), please brace yourselves for a slew of self-centered posts about nothing.
Love, hugs, & hope,
Sashafia
